With its uneven ziggurat shape and vivid colours, the unmistakeable structure is designed to reflect the creative nature of the artisans who occupy its 22 studios.

Container City is a trademarked, fully flexible modular system of using repurposed shipping containers to create stylish and high quality, yet affordable, accommodation for various uses.
This versatile modular system is recycling in practice, cutting both building costs and construction times dramatically and, with its strong yet lightweight framework, minimising the need for environmentally damaging concrete foundations.
The prototypes, “Container City 1” and “Container City 2”, were built in 2000 and 2002 at Trinity Buoy Wharf.
Since then, various local authorities, private companies, and educational and health establishments have commissioned further prefabricated projects from the Wharf’s workshops.
