The Tonghe Shanzi Landscape Design Company has built their incredible five star Xiang Xiang Xiang Pray House hotel entirely out of shipping containers! Looking like a drab shipping container village from the outside, the hotel oozes luxurious design inside its twenty-one cozy guest rooms, arranged on the side of a hill in Changski, China. Each room is fitted with with traditional Chinese décor, skylights, high-design furniture and more!
This luxury shipping container hotel in China provides another high-quality facility in a vastly different environment spanning 5000 m2 using similar building methods. Consisting of a compilation of 35 individual shipping containers, the five star hotel benefits from the advantages of using the prefabricated modules, saving 60% of water and concrete in the construction, producing only 30% of the normal waste, and is painted in environmental water paint. The lodge contains 21 individual rooms with a choice of either a 20-foot or 40-foot container, along with a lobby, restaurant, event space and patio areas where tea ceremonies are held with live traditional Chinese music.
The Xiang Xiang Pray House opened in August of 2012. The pop-up hotel took just three months to design and install, exercising the alternative uses that facilities like these could have in disaster situations. The container hotels could also be designed in one city, and easily transported to another, making pop-up hotels possible anywhere.
